Finding Strength in Speaking Up: BSKL Marks World Mental Health Day

At BSKL Primary School, World Mental Health Day provided an important opportunity to encourage pupils to recognise the value of speaking openly about their feelings and seeking help when they need it.
On 2nd October 2026, throughout the day, students engaged with a range of age-appropriate resources and participated in a dedicated assembly focused on mental well-being.
The activities reinforced a simple but powerful message: no one should face challenges alone, and asking for support is a sign of strength.
A key theme of this year's celebrations was helping children understand that everyone may be carrying struggles that are not immediately visible.
Pupils were encouraged to reflect on what others might be experiencing beneath the surface, fostering empathy, kindness and compassion towards their peers and the wider community.
“By recognising that we only ever see part of somebody's story, students were reminded of the importance of treating others with understanding and respect,” said Deputy Head of Primary Mr Paul Antcliffe.
These conversations helped to create a safe and supportive environment where children feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions.
The World Mental Health Day celebrations are part of BSKL Primary School's ongoing commitment to nurturing the wellbeing of every child.
By encouraging open dialogue, promoting empathy and ensuring pupils know where to find support, the school continues to equip young people with the confidence and resilience needed to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
