Tilly graduated from the University of Plymouth, UK with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, with a focus on developmental psychology. Building upon this foundation, she pursued her passion for education, completing a PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Worcester. Seeking to deepen her understanding of child development and mental health, Tilly furthered her education with a MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from the University of Edinburgh.
Tilly began her teaching journey in Worcestershire, UK, where she taught in Early Years and Key Stage 1. Her experiences there laid the groundwork for her pedagogical approach, emphasising a holistic understanding of child development and learning. Relocating to Beijing, she further developed as a Reception and Year 1 teacher over the course of 8 years at an international school. Immersed in a multicultural environment, Tilly gained valuable insights into tailoring instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
At the heart of Tilly's teaching philosophy lies a profound respect for the individuality of each child. Drawing from her background in psychology and mental health, she recognises the importance of addressing the unique socio-emotional and cognitive needs of every learner. Tilly believes in creating a nurturing classroom environment where children feel empowered to explore, question, and discover at their own pace.
Outside of education, Tilly has a passion for travel and exploring new places. She enjoys being active and taking opportunities to learn new skills, such as recently learning to surf. She also loves to bake and has a background in music. She integrates both interests as often as possible into her classroom, particularly song, which is a wonderful tool for enhancing the learning experiences of her young students.
