Léman International School Chengdu is delighted to celebrate the achievement of three outstanding students, Fiona S. (Year 11) and Louise M. (Year 9) who have been shortlisted for the 2026 Global Essay Prize, held by the John Locke Institute.

Recognised as one of the most prestigious international essay competitions for secondary students, the John Locke Essay Competition challenges students to explore complex questions across disciplines including philosophy, politics, economics, history, law and psychology. Participants are encouraged to develop independent perspectives, build thoughtful arguments and demonstrate intellectual curiosity through academic writing.

For Louise M., this achievement is particularly remarkable. At just 12 years old, Louise is among the youngest students to have been shortlisted for the competition, making her accomplishment especially impressive. Her success reflects her exceptional curiosity, confidence in exploring challenging ideas, and ability to communicate sophisticated thoughts through writing at such a young age.

Through a supportive learning environment, students are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, engage with diverse viewpoints and express their ideas with clarity and confidence.

At Léman, we are proud to celebrate students who embrace intellectual challenges and continue to grow as thoughtful, creative and globally minded learners.
